Short-circuit forces on cables

In the event of a three-pole short circuit, enormous forces act on the laid medium-voltage cables. These dynamic forces not only subject the cable clamps to pressure or tension, but also to bending, which can lead to material failure if the fastenings are not dimensioned accordingly.

For various installation scenarios—bundled or parallel—we provide technical data sheets that can be used to calculate the permissible distances precisely. The following parameters are included in the calculation:

Rated voltage (e.g. 10 kV)
Short-circuit current (e.g., 80 kA·s)
Center distance between conductors (e.g., 10 cm)
Break resistance of the cable clamp (e.g., 10 kN to 25 kN depending on type)
