Variolytics GmbH is working with EmiCo. to develop a system for measuring greenhouse gases in wastewater treatment plants. A robust outdoor housing with protection, air conditioning and fast time to market was required for the harsh conditions.
Precision measurement in a challenging environment
Variolytics GmbH from Stuttgart develops innovative measurement technology for the wastewater industry. Its greenhouse gas analyzer EmiCo. enables wastewater treatment plants to measure greenhouse gases such as nitrous oxide (N₂O) directly in the treatment process and thus achieve climate targets. This globally innovative platform technology combines patented sensor technology with optimization software to reduce emissions. However, the sensitive components of the EmiCo system must also function reliably in the harsh environment of a wastewater treatment plant. Our task was therefore to develop a special outer housing that enables precision under extreme conditions: protection of the highly sensitive measurement technology, smooth operation in humid, corrosive environments and all this in the shortest possible time to market.

Modular special housing in record time
Under the motto "Precise. Robust. Efficient." we have developed a special modular housing that is perfectly tailored to the requirements of the EmiCo analyzer. The result is a tailor-made IP54 enclosure that is extremely weatherproof and durable. An integrated air conditioning system ensures constant conditions inside, so that the highly sensitive sensors - such as the process mass spectrometer - always work at the optimum temperature and humidity. The IP54 protection rating also means that neither dust nor splash water can damage the housing and the electronics inside. This means that the entire EmiCo system is reliably protected from the demanding conditions in wastewater treatment plants.
At the same time, we were able to drastically reduce the development time thanks to the modular design. It took just 14 weeks from the initial concept sketch to the finished product, enabling Variolytics to bring the EmiCo analyzer to market in a remarkably short time. Our efficient project implementation from planning to production kept to the tight schedule without compromising on quality or safety. The modular design offers a wide range of customization and expansion options to meet future requirements.
