LUKA supports operators and plant manufacturers with highly flexible copper round strands to ensure reliable earthing even during complex conversion work. This is based on a combination of high-quality, tinned copper single wires (0.10 mm) and precise assembly, which guarantees short-circuit resistance of at least 20 kA.

Existing 110 kV substations typically use rigid copper cables, which are very inflexible when structural changes are required. These systems reach their limits during conversion work, as they are difficult to adapt and can transfer mechanical stresses to the device connections. Solutions are needed that combine maximum conductivity with ease of handling.

Our solution

Customised assembly for transformers and switchgear

Highly flexible round strands are the backbone of safety in power distribution. They are used for earthing power transformers, disconnectors and surge arresters, where they safely divert fault currents. LUKA offers tinned copper strands with a cross-section of 120 mm² for this purpose, which provide optimum corrosion protection and have been specially developed to replace rigid cables.

LUKA supplies precisely coordinated systems for the implementation of efficient earthing paths:

  • Highly flexible round strands made of tinned copper single wires for maximum flexibility
  • Guaranteed safety thanks to short-circuit resistance of 20 kA
  • Precise connections thanks to double-hole cable lugs (M12, 60 mm hole spacing)
  • Ready-to-use lengths of 600 mm and 750 mm for common distances
  • High corrosion protection thanks to tinned surfaces for long-lasting outdoor applications
